Topic: Youth Power & AI for Good: Inclusive Governance and Ethical Reconstruction in the Digital Civilization Era

To explore the innovative practices and ethical challenges of artificial intelligence (AI) in social governance, the Institute of Population Research at Peking University, the China Aging Development Research Center at Peking University, and the Volunteering and Public Welfare Division of the China Association of Gerontology and Geriatrics will jointly host the “Youth Power & AI for Good” Academic Forum on April 19, 2025(expected). We are now inviting paper submissions from academia, industry, and other sectors, focusing on the following three sub-forums:

I. Main Theme of the Forum

“Inclusive Governance and Ethical Reconstruction in the Digital Civilization Era”
This forum will examine the logic of AI applications in social governance and explore how technological innovation and institutional design can interact to establish more inclusive, fair, and transparent governance paradigms, thereby fostering the integration of AI for social good and public values.

II. Call for Papers: Sub-forum Topics

III. Submission Requirements

  1. Types of Submissions: Academic papers, case studies, technical reports, or policy analyses. Submissions must be original and unpublished.
  2. 2.Word Count: Maximum of 8,000 words for Chinese papers or 3,500 words for English papers.
  3. Formatting Guidelines: The manuscript should include a title, abstract (maximum 300 words), 3-5 keywords, main body, and references (APA format). Authors submitting in English should use inclusive language, e.g., “older adults” instead of “elderly” and “people with disabilities” instead of “disabled.

Note:

  • If submitting an English paper, all authors must sign a Copyright Agreement upon acceptance, allowing the forum organizers to use the abstract for presentation and publication. The agreement can be accessed via the provided link (click here ,passwords: acy2, see Copyright Form and Disclosure of Interest).
  • Authors must disclose any conflict of interest in the manuscript and submit the ICMJE Disclosure Form as an email attachment.
  • Papers involving identifiable human data or biological samples must include ethics approval and informed consent documentation, even if exempted. The manuscript should specify the name and reference number of the ethics committee that approved the study.
  • Animal studies must include relevant ethics approval statements.
  • Clinical trial-based research should provide the Trial Registration Number (TRN) and registration date in the abstract.
  • Incomplete submissions will not be considered.
  • If publicly available datasets were used, authors must include official links and access details to ensure research integrity and compliance with ethical guidelines.

    AI-Using Statement
    While authors may use AI writing tools to enhance readability and improve language, these tools should not be used to generate research content. If AI assisted tools were used, the manuscript must include a clear statement, specifying that AI was only employed for language refinement and not for content creation.

  • Acceptance Notification: By April 15, 2025
  • Forum Date: April 19, 2025

V. Publication & Impact
Selected papers will be included in the Proceedings of the 1st AI+ Social Governance Youth Academic Forum, published by the organizing committee and indexed in CNKI (China National Knowledge Infrastructure) and Google Scholar (authors must choose either Chinese or English; all English- written papers will be open-access with individual DOI number assignment, ).
High-impact policy research may be recommended for publication in Population & Development(in Chinese), Social Policy Research(in Chinese), and other leading journals.
Innovative technological solutions may be included in PKU’s “AI for Good” Case Repository for targeted recommendations to government agencies and enterprises.

VI. Additional Notes

  1. Selected authors will have priority to participate in keynote speeches and roundtable discussions with leading experts, including academicians, policymakers, and technology developers.
  2. The forum will present the “Emerging Scholar Award” to outstanding research with interdisciplinary value and social impact potential.
  3. Joint submissions from universities, enterprises, and social organizations are encouraged to promote industry-academic-research collaboration.
